Hello, all! I hope everyone enjoyed their Sunday yesterday and their morning on this fine Monday! The weather down south today is absolutely to die for! With temperatures in the 70's it sure does put me in the mood for spring! Today I wore a pair of crop pants, because it was a little chilly at the start of my day, but I would have loved to wear a cute pair of shorts instead! A couple of options regarding shorts that I would have loved to wear are a cute pair of chinos, a pair of jean shorts for a more laid back look, or a pair of printed chinos to mix up my Monday! I am in desperate need of new shorts, so I did a little shopping around on Old Navy's website and found a couple pairs I'd love to eventually own!
Can't afford a pair of chinos from J.Crew? Don't worry, neither can I unless they're on sale via the factory or I'm willing to splurge. Luckily a perfect alternative to J.Crew's chinos are Old Navy's chinos! They're the same thing! Old Navy's don't have the same quality, based on my experience with them, but they are cute and come in so many colors! Some Old Navy shorts also come in printed fabrics! Quantity over quality can be an advantage sometimes because you can buy more shorts from Old Navy and not over-wear them like you would a pair of J.Crew chinos if you can only afford to buy a couple pairs. Overall my experience with Old Navy's chino shorts was fab! I will definitely be buying more later this spring!
In addition to chino shorts, I also really like jean shorts because you can dress them up or down! You can wear a super cute blouse one day and dress them down the next with a slouchy t-shirt! Both styles are super cute for spring! I have some problems buying jean shorts though… I sometimes feel insecure with my thighs or how fair my skin is… I have a pair of Old Navy jean shorts and they aren't my go-to pair of shorts, but they definitely are comfortable and reasonably priced. In my opinion they are more easily dressed down than up, but that may be just the style I bought.
After looking around Old Navy's website for shorts, of course I had to take a look at everything else! While making my way around the site I found some super cute tops for spring! My absolute favorite discovery was a bejeweled chambray top! It's everything I love in a chambray, with added bling! In one of my previous posts I talked about how adding a statement necklace could spice up an outfit that included a chambray, but just incase you don't like oversized necklaces, this is a perfect alternative! I would personally pair this piece with a pair of vibrant colored chinos. The next thing I stumbled upon was a simple flowy blouse! I loved the one pictured above because it's a shade of denim and looks a little like a chambray! It also has a polka dot pattern! (For some reason I'm all about polka dots lately!) I would also pair this top with colored chinos! Lastly I came across a simple boat neck quarter sleeve t-shirt! I love neutral colors like gray, so of course I loved the knit tee pictured above! I think I would pair this shirt with a pair of jean shorts for a more laid back look and add a pendant necklace to add a little bit of bling!
The last thing I gawked at on the site were their adorable dresses! The first dress I loved was the blue and white striped dress! I love the unique neckline and the fit and flare style! I don't know if the horizontal stripes would make me look wider (which any girl wants to avoid!), but I'd have to try it on in a store to truly be able to tell! The second dress is also very chic! I like the color blocked design along with stripes! I could see this dress being worn to a more professional affair because the top is a polyester fabric if I'm not mistaken, so it takes it out of the more laid back category. Also, the stripes are navy, not black, and I have always liked yellow and navy together, I think they complement each other well. The very last thing I stumbled upon was a plain black maxi dress. I don't normally like maxi dresses, but this one stood out to me. I don't like them because I am tall so I always think it won't be the right length and I think it's so weird that my feet just poke out underneath it… I don't know! This dress is very simple and nice for spring. It can go on a trip to the park and then out to lunch. It seems like it would be light and airy, also. I may consider trying this dress on if I can find it in the actual store.
So, as you can see I spent a lot of time on the Old Navy website today and found a lot of really cute pieces! What's also great about Old Navy is that they are extremely reasonably priced, so if you want to pull off the whole "prep for less" thing as often as possible like me, Old Navy is a great place to shop!
